SERCAP's Essential & Critical Needs Program Assists Low-Income Female in Bedford County, Virginia!

Recently, SERCAP’s Essential & Critical Needs Program assisted a low-income, single female in Bedford County, VA, with repairing her individual household well. Approximately nine (9) months ago she began experiencing serious difficulties with her well as it was constantly running dry, leaving her without adequate access to potable water. However, since she receives SSI and is low-income, she was unable to afford the cost of repairing the well herself without experiencing financial hardship.

Fortunately, SERCAP was able to step-in and provide financial assistance to help with the well repairs. SERCAP’s Essential & Critical Needs Program provided a Grant in the amount of $1,000.00 for the project, restoring full functionality to the well and the indoor plumbing in the client’s home, once again providing the client with reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

Without SERCAP’s Essential & Critical Needs Program, and other similar programs and services, many low-income individuals and communities would be forced to go without such necessities as fully functioning wells and septic systems, safe and affordable housing, reliable access to clean drinking water, indoor plumbing, community development and infrastructure needs, water/wastewater infrastructure solutions, and more. It is important to remember that even in the US in the 21st Century; there are those who do not have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water, environmentally sound septic facilities, and affordable housing. In order to help SERCAP continue to provide assistance to both the individuals and communities in need, please consider making a donation to SERCAP’s Water Life! Fund!
