On Thursday, September 12, 2024, SERCAP hosted its first-ever Boots on the Ground Event to kick-off its FY2025 Annual Fund Campaign, at the agency’s headquarters in Roanoke, VA. The inaugural Boots on the Ground Event featured Live Music by The Brothers Young and Caricatures by local Artist, Hannah Raine. Libations were provided by Blindhouse Beer Company, a client of SERCAP’s who received a Small Business Loan from SERCAP’s Certified CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) Loan Fund. SERCAP’s President & CEO, Hope F. Cupit, welcomed everyone to the event, thanking them for their support of SERCAP, and additional remarks were delivered by Robert Turcotte of Entre Computer Center, one of the event’s sponsors.
Mr. Turcotte and Entre Computer Center have provided IT services to SERCAP for many years, and over those years Entré Computer Center’s team has learned a lot about what SERCAP does and the important impact the agency has on the communities and people it serves. “Now this place [SERCAP] has caught us by the heart,” said Mr. Turcotte, referring to all that SERCAP does. He goes on to say, “If you haven’t been to a Water Is Life! (Event), you should go. Listen to the Homeowners that this organization has helped, and just like us, this place will catch you by the heart too.”
The rest of the evening was spent enjoying food, libations, Live Music, and fellowship by the 38 attendees at the event. The event also helped SERCAP raise just over $1,000 in unrestricted funding for its Annual Fund. However, this is just the beginning of SERCAP’s FY2025 Annual Fund Campaign. SERCAP’s Annual Fund supports the agency’s mission by allowing its programs and services to reach those who may fall outside the eligibility requirements of other funders, but still truly need the assistance and support SERCAP provides.
